Additional Information
Sockets
Sockets are supplied with mounting flanges as standard. Unflanged versions with standard or with contacts suitable for direct soldering to a pcb are also available.
Technical information on the range of ET Enterprises' sockets can be downloaded here. Guidance on individual sockets, and the ranges of pmts they are used with, can be accessed from the table below.
Engineering drawings of each socket type can be supplied on request.
options
- no mounting flange
- contacts for mounting directly to a pcb
- non-tarnishing gold plated contacts
precautions
Sockets and caps must not come in contact with any of the following:
- acetone
- cyanoacrylate adhesives
- chloroform
- dichloromethane
Only alcohol is recommended for cleaning.
Adhesives suitable for sockets and caps are epoxy resins, polyurethanes and silicones.
When inserting or removing a photomultiplier from a socket, maintain the tube axis at right angles to the plane of the socket as shown in the diagram below:

You must not, under any circumstances, solder directly to the pins of a hardpin photomultiplier. Flying leads may be soldered directly to a printed circuit board provided adequate heat sinking is used
to protect the photomultiplier .
Soldering temperatures must not exceed 270 °C.
Electrical connections must not be made to socket contacts marked ic in the photomultiplier pin connection diagrams.
